The Aldermen Islands is one of the gems of the Coromandel coast, yet they remain under constant pressure from introduced predators, invasive plants, and the creeping effects of climate change. Reversing that damage takes sustained, expert-led effort — and sustained funding.
AIMERT is a charitable trust run by a small team of dedicated ecologists, field workers, and volunteers. We have no government endowment. Every dollar we raise goes directly into the islands: trapping programmes, revegetation planting, species monitoring, and the community science that keeps it all honest.
Choose your level of support
Funds a single dive to destroy more than 150 invasive spiny sea urchins.
Covers the cost of clearing urchins from approximately 300 square meters of seabed, allowing kelp to regrow.
Sponsors a full field day for our clearing team: boat transport, equipment, and the data collection that underpins every decision we make.
Funds clearing of one hectare of seabed, including all boat, equipment and fuel costs.
